From Classical to Spiritual
A Living Collection of Stories, Music, and Memory
This current legacy project is deeply personal.
From Classical to Spiritual centers on my mother, Dr. Carol Yampolsky — her life at the piano, her evolution through music, and the quiet but lasting impact she has had on those who have learned from her, listened to her, and been moved by her presence.
This is not just a reflection on her career. It’s a gathering of feeling, memory, and lived experience.
From classical foundations to spiritual expression, her music has met people in meaningful moments — and this project is about capturing those moments while we still can.
This work is unfolding gently. We are filming time at the piano, holding conversations, and inviting stories from those whose lives have been touched by her music and teaching.
Follow and listen to several of Dr. Yampolsky’s piano moments on her YouTube channel to enjoy her thoughtful interpretations.
The Invitation
We invite contributors - current/former students, former colleagues from Howard University & PGPS, friends, and family - to pause, reflect, and speak from where they are.
You don’t need to answer everything. One thought is enough.
Reflection prompts may include:
What comes to mind when you think of Carol at the piano?
How does her music make you feel?
What has she taught you that goes beyond music?
How did her presence shape your confidence, discipline, or spirit?
What does her journey from classical training to spiritual expression mean to you?
Written reflections, voice notes, or short video responses are all welcome.
Interested in Contributing?
If Carol’s music or mentorship has touched your life, your voice is welcome.
